Butterfly Valley (PETALOUDES)

At about 5km away from Aliki (direction Paroikia) lies Butterfly Valley or as the Greeks say "Petaloudes". In the summer months, from May to August, the trees in the lush green valley are covered by clouds of Jersey Tiger moths. The trees look like they are dancing on the wind and the smell that the butterflies (well, actually moths) attracts, is delicious. It is a quiet park with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. You can get there by bus to go from Aliki and Paroikia. Admission costs you three euros and you are asked to take it easy in the park not to scare the butterflies. There is a small cafe in the park where you can buy a drink, a snack and a souvenir.
